I saw Jonathan Harris’s Ted Talk last year and it (like a lot of those Ted Talks) was a very inspiring look at technology, art, and communication.

Harris is an artist as well as a computer scientist, and he makes interactive web projects. My favourite is called ‘We Feel Fine’. It scavenges blogs and identifies all the feelings that are being expressed out there. It collects the sentences and organizes them into a database, and categorizes them based on the name/location of the author, and even the weather at the time of the post. Everything is then put onto a beautifully designed interactive interface, which is constantly being updated. The artist writes:

“At its core, We Feel Fine is an artwork authored by everyone. It will grow and change as we grow and change, reflecting what’s on our blogs, what’s in our hearts, what’s in our minds. We hope it makes the world seem a little smaller, and we hope it helps people see beauty in the everyday ups and downs of life.”

You should see it.

Here’s his Ted Talk. It’s so cool you guys.
